About us

Talay’an is the first and only advocacy organization focusing on the experiences of LGBTQ+ and especially trans sex workers in Morocco. Founded at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, Talay’an started as a closed network of sex workers providing mutual aid and support to one another.
Talay’an is an official, public organization committed to supporting self-determination, agency, and leadership of sex workers in fighting for their rights. The organizational structure of Talay’an reflects clearly this commitment, all strategic decisions are made exclusively by members who are sex workers and their policy is that core staff must always remain in majority composed of sex workers.

Our Mission

TALAYAN’ s mission is to support the individual agency and collective empowerment of sex workers in Morocco and the MENA region , and to fight against all forms of criminalization, violence and discrimination impacting sex workers and their communities.
Vision
Our Vision is of a world where sex work is recognised as work , and where sex workers with all their diversities can live free from discrimination, violence, stigma and exploitation.
Our Commitment
Centring the experiences of LGBTI and especially transgender sex workers, considering they face some of the highest levels of persecution and violence. That said, we believe it is necessary to build a broad coalition which includes both LGBTI and cisgender / heterosexuals sex workers.
The Team
Talay’an is composed of four staff, nine actively registered members and a network varying in size.
